On October 25, 2018, the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC), the country’s financial intelligence unit, launched a public consultation on proposed amendments to the current rules on reporting and lodgment periods, which were established by Section 47 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) Act, and regulated by Chapter 11 of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Rules 2007 (AML/CTF Rules).
