On October 1, 2018, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) released a final notice addressed to Tesco Personal Finance plc (Tesco Bank), by virtue of which the regulator imposed a monetary penalty of £16.4m on Tesco Bank for its failure to effectively respond to a cyberattack incident that took place in November 2016 and affected 6 percent of its personal current accounts (8,261 out of 131,000).
