The Samoan parliament has passed the Money Laundering Prevention Amendment Act 2018, which received the assent of the head of state on June 22, 2018, the date on which it came into force. The amendments to the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2007 will ensure Samoan laws are in line with international legislation to combat money laundering, specifically the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) recommendations, which aim to strengthen the country’s anti-money laundering framework.
