Mississippi’s Supreme Court has overturned a 2007 decision by state gaming regulators to award a million-dollar slot machine jackpot to a patron at the Imperial Palace casino in Biloxi. The $1m jackpot was displayed on the slot machine’s screen, despite a specified $8,000 maximum payout limit, due to a programming error by an engineer from gaming machine manufacturer IGT.
