On June 1, 2018, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BaFin, Germany’s federal financial supervisory authority. The agreement is aimed at enhancing mutual assistance for the supervision and surveillance of cross-border regulated entities (CBREs) in their respective jurisdictions. It ultimately is aimed at contributing to the establishment of high standards of business practice among CBREs.
