On May 6, 2019, the Estonian government introduced a bill on amendments to the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financial Prevention Act and the State Fees Act (8 SE), in line with the provisions of the 5th Anti-Money Laundering Directive (5th AMLD). The proposed amendments aim to tighten the rules governing the authorisation of firms engaged in the virtual currency sector, including virtual currency exchange service providers and virtual currency wallet service providers.
