Malaysia: Central Bank Consults on Open Data Using Open API

On September 18, 2018, the central bank of Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), launched a public consultation on the Exposure Draft on Publishing Open Data using Open Application Programming Interface (API), which is applicable to financial institutions intending to design and publish their own open data APIs. The aim of the initiative is to propose a policy framework on open API standards to be implemented on certain financial products, including credit cards, and to promote the development of innovative solutions by third-party developers, where these will have access to certain data without establishing a business relationship with the open API publishers.
