On January 24, 2018, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced the filing of an enforcement action before federal court against Randall Crater of East Hampton, New York; Mark Gillespie of Hartland, Michigan; and My Big Coin Pay Inc., based in Nevada. The defendants are accused of commodity fraud and misappropriation of more than $6m, which they managed to solicit from unsuspicious customers for a virtual currency known as My Big Coin (MBC).
