On March 22, 2017 the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) announced that it has approved an application of Coinbase Inc, a subsidiary of Coinbase Global Inc, to offer Ethereum and Litecoin to New York customers. The DFS has also authorised Coinbase to provide users in New York with access to “Shift Card”, a Coinbase linked debit card service.
